THE LOWDOWN — THE FULL HISTORY
1930
Luis Monti played in the first World Cup final, for Argentina. They lost.
1934
Four years later he played in the World Cup final again, this time for Italy. They won. Monti is the only man ever to play a World Cup final for two different nations.
THE ORIUNDI
Monti was one of the oriundi, South Americans of Italian descent who played for Italy in 1934. Raimundo Orsi and Enrique Guaita, both Argentine, were the others among Italy's best. The full story of that team is told in EP03 of The World Cup Universe.
