THE LOWDOWN — THE FULL HISTORY
THE OLDEST
Fulham, founded in 1879, are London's oldest professional club. In 147 years they have never won a major trophy, and yet almost everybody loves them.
THE COTTAGE
Craven Cottage is reached through a park and has an actual cottage in the corner. Outside stands Johnny Haynes, the first footballer in England to earn £100 a week, with 600 games for one club. George Cohen played every minute of England's 1966 World Cup win and never wore another club's shirt.
THE NEARLIES
In 1975 Bobby Moore played his last Wembley game in a Fulham shirt, and they lost the FA Cup final to West Ham. In 2010 Hodgson's side beat Juventus 4-1 on the way to a European final, lost in extra time.
NOW
Marco Silva brought a 90-point promotion and calm; in 2025-26 Fulham finished 11th, two points off Europe, before Silva left for Benfica. Álvaro Arbeloa, 43, arrived from Real Madrid with striker Gonzalo García. Number 11 in THE COUNTDOWN.
