THE LOWDOWN — THE FULL HISTORY
THE GHOST
Chapman built a dynasty in the 1930s, and 13 titles followed. In 2004 the Invincibles went a whole league season unbeaten, the only one in Premier League history. Then came 22 years without a title: FA Cups, top-four finishes, Wenger's exit in 2018, Thursday nights and eighth-place finishes, then Arteta's process.
THE WOUND
Arsenal finished second three times in a row, once with 89 points.
THE SEASON
In 2025-26 they spent 200 consecutive days on top of the table and conceded only 27 goals all season. Raya won a third straight Golden Glove, and 18 goals from corners set an all-time record. When City drew at Bournemouth in May, the title was sealed: 85 points, seven clear, a 14th championship and the first in 22 years.
THE NEXT DOOR
A 3-0 Community Shield win followed. Guimarães and Tzolis arrived, and the title defence began. One prize remains: the Champions League, which Arsenal have never won. Number 1 and the finale of THE COUNTDOWN.
