THE LOWDOWN — THE FULL HISTORY
THE NATION
Uruguay: three and a half million people, smaller than most cities. The smallest nation ever to be world champions.
TWO TITLES
Uruguay won the very first World Cup in 1930, on home soil, and declared a national holiday. They won again in 1950 in Brazil. They have not won the World Cup since.
THE STORY
The one-handed striker Héctor Castro, the 1930 final and the team that started it all are covered in EP02 of The World Cup Universe.
