THE SALE
At 9pm on deadline day, Chelsea finally sold Enzo to City, expecting to replace him with Monaco's Camara. But Monaco had rejected two Chelsea bids that morning, and Chelsea had walked away.
THE CHAIN
Monaco needed £40m by midnight from Balogun's sale to Everton. When his medical failed, they called Chelsea back; the Camara deal was written, agreed and signed. Then Everton, whose striker list had collapsed (Beto sold, Richarlison collapsed, Zirkzee nothing), revived Balogun on renegotiated, cheaper terms.
THE RENEGE
No longer needing Chelsea's money, Monaco tore up the signed deal after 11pm. A reported Liverpool nudge is unconfirmed. Chelsea were reportedly furious, but kept their word on the Enzo sale. At 5am, Balogun walked away from Everton's new terms.
THE VERDICT
