THE LOWDOWN — THE FULL HISTORY
THE FILM
We built our own match engine and let it play the opening stretch of the 2026 World Cup: 18 matches, every goal, every save, every minute, before a real ball was kicked. Real squads (the announced 26-player squads), real form and real injuries.
THE CALLS
Each match carries its official World Cup match number and date on screen. Among the calls: Mexico 2–1 South Africa in the opener, Switzerland to take Group B with six points, and Canada to lose their opener without Davies.
THE RULES
This is a simulation with no real match footage, declared and timestamped before kickoff. When reality answers, we grade ourselves in public. The opener finished Mexico 2–0 South Africa: right winner, wrong score.
