THE LOWDOWN — THE FULL HISTORY
THE FINAL
12 May 1976, Hampden Park: Bayern Munich 1–0 Saint-Étienne. Bathenay and Santini both hit the same bar; Franz Roth scored from a free-kick routine on 57 minutes.
THE POSTS
Hampden's posts were square in cross-section. For many supporters they became the symbol of the defeat: "les poteaux carrés". Nobody can prove rounded posts would have changed anything.
THE MUSEUM
In October 2013 the old posts arrived in Saint-Étienne, bought for around €20,000. They are in the club museum now.
