A complete XI out, a complete XI in — Villa's window, deal by deal.
THE LOWDOWN — THE FULL HISTORY
THE EXODUS
Aston Villa sold Morgan Rogers to Chelsea for a British-player record £117m, Konsa to Arsenal, Watkins to Al-Hilal and World Cup-winning keeper Emi Martínez to Chelsea. £315m went out: the core of five seasons, gone in one window.
THE SPEND
Villa put almost all of it back: twelve signings for nearly £300m. Jackson came from Chelsea, Manzambi as the club-record buy, Mbaye from Paris, plus Gomes, Harwood-Bellis, Suzuki, Ruggeri, Goretzka on a free and Garnacho on loan with an obligation to buy.
THE XI
Placed at their real positions, the signings alone form a complete team: a keeper, a back four, a midfield three and a front three, with a man to spare.
